Packing your bags
What you should bring will depend largely on the type
of holiday you are planning. If it is solely a beach holiday
you could travel light but don't forget to bring along
plenty of sun block lotion, sun glasses and a sun hat.
The sun can be extremely hot.If you are to visit a holy
site or temple, make sure your legs and shoulders are
covered. Never go to these places in bathing suits or
shorts. Socks are useful for visiting temples. Since footwear
has to be removed at the entrance to the temple, your
socks will protect your feet when walking on areas exposed
to the sun. Should you intend going to the cool environs
of the hill country, it is advisable to take a sweater.
The nights can be cold.
A
lightweight wind/waterproof jacket is also advisable.
Since bed linen is always provided at hotels and guest
houses, it is not necessary to take a sleeping bag or
sheets, unless you plan to go camping or rough it out.
Rubber thongs are ideal when taking a walk on unsubmerged
reefs and of course in the shower. A few handy items
to have with you are a Swiss Army knife, a flash light,
insect repellent, disposable tissues, a miniature immerson
heater, a voltage stabilizer if you are bringing sensitive
electronic equipment, water purification tablets if
you do not intend using bottled water.
