Day 01 |
You will be met on arrival and driven to Sigiriya where your amazing experience will begin. Day 02 |
This morning you will be driven to the Cultural Triangle - the ancient heart of Sri Lanka. From here you can explore Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, & Sigiriya. Relax at the hotel and in the afternoon at 4.00p.m set off to climb the spectacular rock fortress of Sigiriya, with its rocky abode & water gardens. Sigiriya is famous for its toadstool of golden-hued granite, protruding into the searing blue sky from a hot, flat wilderness of scrubland, which is transformed in the rainy season to a water garden. In the 5th century King Kashyapa domesticated the Lions Rock, by building a palace atop its summit. Sigiriya commemorates some of the turbulence of Sri Lanka’s history. Day 03 |
This morning you will visit the Ancient city of Polonnaruwa an ancient royal capital, with its well-preserved 12th century ruins & impressive stone culture recalls an inspired past. Today for dinner you may try Sri Lankan rice and curry usually includes a variety of small spiced dishes made from vegetables, meat or fish. They’re generally served with accompaniments like chutney and sambol – a term that describes any condiment made from ingredients pounded with chilli. Day04 |
Today on the way to Kandy in the morning visit the beautiful Dambulla cave temple, the largest cave monastery in the country with a history going back to the 1st century BC. On the way you could also stop off at a Spice Garden in Matale. There are several directly on the way to Kandy and arrive at Jetwing Hunasfalls. On arrival at Jetwing Hunasfalls you will be warmly welcomed with a cold towel to freshen up and complimentary refreshment. Day 05 |
Today morning enjoy your breakfast in the room overlooking the beautiful mountains covered with mist. There are many things to do whilst at HunasFalls from early morning/evening bird watching to a romantic nature walk or simply watch the monkeys play in the tree tops or relax by the pool. For the more activities you can take a boat ride, play tennis or badminton, enjoy a pony ride or even plant a tree as a living souvenir of your visit. You can choose to do as little or as much as you would like. The ambience of the hotel is laid back and relaxed. There are no long queues at the buffet table, rather this is sophisticated dining. This morning after breakfast you will be driven to Kandy to explore this lovely city. Kandy is surrounded by rolling hills and forest. The last capital of the Singhalese Kingdom, this hill country city is famed for its lake, the Temple of the Tooth, resting place of the country's most precious Buddhist relic and the Royal Botanical Gardens. Day 07 |
Start the day with breakfast in bed – enjoy Jetwing St Andrews superb English breakfast. After breakfast explore Nuwara Eliya or Little England as it is also aptly referred to. It is Sri Lanka's most popular holiday resort. At approximately 6500 feet above sea level, with temperatures ranging from 12 C to 22 C it opens into a breathtaking panorama of colour. Beautiful gardens, cascading waterfalls, lakes and sweet smelling mountain air. The must sees are; a Tea Plantation, Tea Factory and the famous old colonial Hill Club. Final day of your journey…… Depart Nuwara Eliya for Colombo. The Galle Face Hotel is one of Asia’s oldest hotels. In the evening enjoy a sunset cocktail on the checker board of the Galle Face Hotel, and experience a romantic night out at Gallery Café in the open – air café area which over looks pebbled courtyards.
