Day 01

Arrival and transfer to Jetwing Vil Uyana, Sigiriya (Approx 04 hrs).

Situated within the view of the ‘8th Wonder of the World’ - Sigiriya rock, on the flatlands that stretch to the west, the Vil Uyana could be considered an extension of an ancient plan.

Vil Uyana is the first in the world to construct a wetland system with lakes and reed beds to form a private nature reserve which indeed is a world of tranquillity amidst the understated elegance and charm of the forested groves which offer privacy and seclusion to the villas, each of which comes with its own private plunge pool!

Day 02

Spend the next couple of days at the Vil Uyana to embark on a journey of amazing experiences……………

After breakfast you can visit the Dambulla rock temple, the largest cave monastery in the country with a history going back to the 1st century BC.

In the afternoon at approx. 4pm set off to climb the spectacular rock fortress of Sigiriya, with its rocky abode & water gardens. Approximately 30 minutes drive from Kandalama is famous for its toadstool of golden-hued granite, protruding into the searing blue sky from a hot, flat wilderness of scrubland, which is transformed in the rainy reason to a water garden. In the 5th century King Kashyapa domesticated the Lions rock, by building a palace atop its summit. Sigiriya commemorates some of the turbulence of Sri Lanka’s history.

Day 03

Today you visit Polonnaruwa an ancient royal capital, with its well-preserved 12th century ruins & impressive stone culture recalls an inspired past.

The island's medieval capital (11th to 13th century A.D.) rose to fame after the decline of Anuradhapura. The ancient glorious kingdom of Great ‘Parakramabahu’ where the glamour and richness of the bygone era is yet so evident boasts the largest of the man made reservoirs, the huge Parakrama Samudra which is definitely a state of the art master piece.

You could even visit the ruins of the King's Council Chamber, the Royal Citadel, the Kumara Pokuna, Royal Pavilion, the Vatadage Relic House lavished with moonstones, guardstones and sculptured railing, Kiri Vehera - the best preserved of all Sri Lanka's un-restored dagabas;

Day04

This morning, you could opt to explore the most picturesque surroundings of Jetwing Vil Uyana in Buggies. You will journey through paddy fields and man made lakes, with an opportunity to observe bird life and dragonflies in the hotel garden.

Rest, relax and bliss out! Maybe enjoy a quiet drink by the poolside while taking in the ambience, a plunge in the pool or in your own private plunge pool is a must!

Day 05

Today you drive to Kandy in the hill country, sri lanka`s second city. (Approx 2.5 hours)

On your way to Kandy visit the Pinnawela elephant orphanage. See baby jumbos wondering around their cramped foster home or bottle fed and bathed by their human foster fathers at Pinnawela, which is the home to some 60 or more elephant orphans. A place you will really enjoy and never forget. Most orphans are accustomed to their curious human visitors and are harmless.

Once settled in at the Jetwing Hunas Falls hotel one could relax and enjoy this peaceful retreat or drive into the city to do some exploring……

Day 06

After breakfast spend the day exploring Kandy. A lively city, Kandy is surrounded by rolling hills and forest. The last capital of the Singhalese Kingdom, this hill country city is famed for its lake and the Temple of the Tooth.
You could also visit a traditional arts & crafts centre, a gem museum. (These are quite touristy however totally up to you).

Visit the Temple of the Tooth in the evening, resting place of the country's most precious Buddhist relic. Set on the banks of the lake, and surrounded by moat, the temple and its setting makes for unforgettable moonlit walks.

Day 07

Today after breakfast, you will be driven to Galle on the southern coast of Sri Lanka and you may relax at Jetwing Lighthouse to recover from the long journey. ( Approx 5.5 hours)

Day 08

Over the next two days you can explore the city of Galle at your leisure, taking in the rich heritage, culture and architecture of this vibrant coastal city. It has become the perfect time warp for the inquisitive traveler.

Galle has always been one of Sri Lanka's most historic towns, the gateway to the seductive sandy coves of the Deep South. Home to the magnificent 300-year-old Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World heritage site and the city’s most popular tourist destination is also the largest remaining citadel in Asia constructed during the Dutch occupation in the 1600s. This fortified city exemplifies the synergy of European architecture style and Asian traditions.

Day 09

Another day to rest, relax and explore the city at your own pace….

We also recommend lunch at the sun House Renowned for some of the best food in Sri Lanka, The Sun House offers contemporary gourmet cuisine with a focus on the highest quality ingredients fresh from the local markets each day.
Meals are served in either the dining room, on one of the house’s airy verandahs or in the garden under the mango tree.
